Just got back from watching The Fall with Sharon, Tae Hwa, and Hiemann. Directed by Tarsem Singh. Never heard of it before today but it was good. The website says it was “shot on location in 18 countries.” Basically a man and a five-year-old girl meet as patients in a hospital where he begins to tell her an epic, fantastical story about five heroes on a quest for revenge in order to amuse her and to persuade her to steal morphine pills for him.
Okay, so obviously I’m pretty terrible at describing plots. But go watch a trailer. And go watch the movie. It’s good. It’s not perfect, but it’s good. Reminded me of Pan’s Labyrinth and The Orphanage with the whole blurring reality and fantasy deal.
Visually, it is stunning. Seriously, I should just stop writing and fill this entire post with screenshots. And Alexandria, played by Catinca Untaru, is adorable and works really well with Roy, played by Lee Pace (who at the right angle kind of looks like Johnny Depp. Hehe.).
It’s sad, funny, heartbreaking, awwww-inducing, all at the right moments. More than entertaining! Go watch it. Highly recommended.
