GO!GO!7188 A;LJBLIJASDF ZOMG

May 28, 2008

GO!GO!7188: kind of rock-ish, kind of punk-ish, surf-ish, enka-ish, everything under the sun-ish.  Pretty much my favorite Japanese band ever.  Um, okay, the only Japanese band to which I actually listen.  But seriously, they’re brilliant, and they’ve just (as in like today, May 28th) released their fourteenth single (Kataomoi Fighter) and newest album (Tora No Ana 2) which is their second cover album.  Turkey sings! A brilliant end to a lousy day.

I’m not gonna pretend I actually know any of the songs they’ve covered.  But it’s still pretty awesome. Woot! And the single is apparently an ending song for the anime “Itazura Na Kiss.” Which I’ve never even heard of. Exciting nevertheless.

The Fall

May 26, 2008

Just got back from watching The Fall with Sharon, Tae Hwa, and Hiemann. Directed by Tarsem Singh. Never heard of it before today but it was good. The website says it was “shot on location in 18 countries.”  Basically a man and a five-year-old girl meet as patients in a hospital where he begins to tell her an epic, fantastical story about five heroes on a quest for revenge in order to amuse her and to persuade her to steal morphine pills for him.

Okay, so obviously I’m pretty terrible at describing plots.  But go watch a trailer. And go watch the movie.  It’s good.  It’s not perfect, but it’s good.  Reminded me of Pan’s Labyrinth and The Orphanage with the whole blurring reality and fantasy deal.

Visually, it is stunning. Seriously, I should just stop writing and fill this entire post with screenshots. And Alexandria, played by Catinca Untaru, is adorable and works really well with Roy, played by Lee Pace (who at the right angle kind of looks like Johnny Depp. Hehe.).

It’s sad, funny, heartbreaking, awwww-inducing, all at the right moments. More than entertaining!  Go watch it. Highly recommended.

Whoo!

Basically, I needed a place apart from my Xanga to talk about cool random things.  Because for some reason it doesn’t feel right in my Xanga.

Regarding the username.  “kaleidoscopeyes” was taken.  “int0xicated” was taken.  I really like foam soap.

So for today, last night Calvin provided me with a piece of news that made me cry a little inside: a Donnie Darko sequel?  Really?

It sounds like a bad idea.  No, it is a bad idea.  Richard Kelly’s not even attached to it.  Who in the world is Chris Fisher, anyway?

Read the logline and join my skepticism!  Whoo!  “Picking up seven years after the original, the plot will follow Donnie’s sister Samantha on a road trip to Los Angeles, during which she is plagued by a series of bizarre visions.”

I hope I’m proven wrong. Who knows; I’m a sucker for anything involving time travel (the only “chick flick” I’ve ever really enjoyed?  Kate & Leopold), so if it’s remotely related to any of the stuff in Donnie Darko…*shrugs*
