Foam soap, like frealz.

September 28, 2008

I was in Japan this past summer for missions, and I’m just gonna throw it out there, Japan has the greatest foam soap I have ever used in the world made by a company called Kirei Kirei which literally means “clean clean” or even “beautiful” in English. It is thick and foamy and creamy and light…just wonderful. It doesn’t fall apart when it hits your hand. I wonder if they sell this in the US because I would buy that stuff like no other.

Kirei Kirei is freaking huge in Japan. I don’t think I saw any other brand of soap when I was there. Unfortunately most places had Kirei Kirei liquid, not foam, soap. Which really isn’t all that exciting. Regardless, foam soap is just one of the many things I miss about Japan…

Chairlift

September 27, 2008

Photo lazily, shamelessly stolen from Wikipedia.

By now you’ve probably heard of Chairlift, the band whose single “Bruises” is used in the new iPod Nano commercial. Thanks to Hiemann I can safely say I knew who they were before I knew that they were involved with Apple in any way. But this post is not about my dignity.

Unfortunately unavoidable circumstances came up and I missed a chance to see them live tonight and to see some short films (Rooftop Films) but some friends who went tell me the films sucked (and that CUNUFF is way better-yeah CUNUFF!) and Chairlift rocked, so yay yay yay. Fortunately they are playing at Bowery on October 18th ($15), although opening for some dumb band called “The Juan Maclean” whose three tracks I’ve listened to are about as bad as the US’s economy right now. Why they are not the ones opening for Chairlift is beyond me.

Soooo is it Yael Naim or Chairlift? Or both?? Probably both.

ALBUMSCONCERTS

September 21, 2008

I made a mental note about a month ago to write about this but forgot about it until now. Oops.

BUT GREGORY AND THE HAWK HAS A NEW ALBUM COMING OUT OCTOBER 7TH CALLED MOENIE AND KITCHI!!!! So soon but not soon enough.

I first discovered Gregory and the Hawk on YouTube when I stumbled across her cover of Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable,” lulz. But no really, I’ve yet to hear a song by her I don’t like. Think light and airy and guitary and beautiful.  Kind of like Joanna Newsom, minus the complete suck.  Her lyrics are like poetry!!!

So I am really looking forward to Moenie and Kitchi. Hehe, how cute does that sound.

I wonder if it’s been leaked already. I mean, not that I would go looking for it or anything. ESPECIALLY SINCE COLUMBIA SUSPENDED MY NETWORK ACCESS FOR SOMETHING I DOWNLOADED A MONTH AGO, AT HOME IN GEORGIA.

In other exciting news, I will have another chance to see Yael Naim! Seeing as no one wanted to go with me to her free concert this past summer. This time I will have to pay. Monday, October 27th. 7 PM doors. Webster. $25. I will find someone to go with this time.

ANYWAY.  Here’s Gregory and the Hawk.

The guy’s laugh at the end is kind of creepy.
BUT WHY IS SHE SO CUTE. I could eat her.
